Personal Struggles And Krsna Bhakti

Durlavam hi Sada Sukham ( Incessant happiness is indeed infrequent : Valmiki Ramayana ).The Threefold miseries are there for everyone ,one has to suffer a lot mentally if the spiritual relation with the Divinity is not present. If one is mentally and spiritually strong ,then he has the preparedness to overcome the struggles . Here's a collection of various verses for all of us suffering :

   1. Iha Samsare Bahu Dustare Kripaya Pare Pahii Murare

( O Lord, the one who is the enemy of demons like Mura ; Have compassion on me.This worldly ocean of existence is extremely hard to cross over , Give me Your shelter .)  - Mohamudgram, Adishankaracharya

2. tvadiyas tvad-bhrityas tava parijanas tvad-gatir aham

prapannas caivam sa tv aham api tavaivasmi hi bharah

(O Lord,You are the shelter of all universes . Though fallen ,but I am Your follower , a slave of Your lotus feet; O Lord ,the goal of my life is only You ,consider my surrender to You ; I am all dependent on Your Mercy)       - Strota Ratna, Yamunnacharya

3.Agyani lokar Manya    paya Garva Bahi goila

       Prabhu abe rakhiu amaka
(O ever blissful Lord ; Getting respect from the foolish people ,I have embraced pride and hence it has turned out to disrespect Your path of humbleness ! O ,Madhava ,Kindly save this fallen ,have Your mercy on me. )  - Vedastuti ,Srimanta Sankardeva

4. Namo Krsna-Deva    Papi buli Kevo

5. Asilasya va padrata pinastu mamah
  Adarsana va marmahata karut mamah
yatha tatha bidadhatu lampatu mad prana nathastu sa eva natparo .
(O Lord Krishna ,one who is like a mischievous child ,if you want to give me misery of this world, or  crush me under your feet ,or even if you have no wish to grant me Your Darsana, then also ,only You are my savior Lord. Whatever you grant is the way of my life.) -  Sikshyastaka ,Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

6.Except You,o Lord ,the lifter of the Goverdhan hill  -  who has the feeling of consideration for me !The Lord ,who wears the yellow garment and has peacock feather on His crown ;He who once has saved queen Draupadi's honor,   That  Lord is Mira's Lord,She is a lover of His Lotus feet.O Lord ,deliver me .  -  Bhajan ,Mirabai

7. As long as one has the capability of earning wealth , he has the love of kinsman ,but once ,one is aged or diseased ,no one even utters a word of love or compassion to him.when he dies ,even his own wife fears his non-living body . - Mohamudgara,Adi Shankaracharya.

 8. O Lord Madhava Krishna , Considering this worldly affairs as supreme happiness (boon),I have  embraced attachment to non permanent things .O Lord deliver me , grant me your devotion of Sravana and Kirtana and through that O Narayana deliver me from the ties of material goals. - Bhavartha Dipika ,Book X , Sridhara Swami .

Saranagati is the only way ,the only answer to all threefold miseries ; The One who is beyond the prakirti gunas ,to Him only this loving surrender is possible . In The Rig veda, the very first verse denotes a lower stage of surrendering to God ,while in the fourth mandala ,the supreme surrender to Vishnu is mentioned, - Tad Vishnu Paramam padam sada pasyati surayah . In the Svetaswetar Upanisad ,this surrender to Him alone is denoted . As in the  Gita - Sarva dharmana paritaijam mameikam saranam vraja   O Arjuna , single mindedly surrender to Me alone , I will deliver you from all sinful actions .

Sankardeva's pastimes at Jagannath Puri

nirapekṣaṁ muniṁ śāntaṁ nirvairaṁ sama-darśanam anuvrajāmy ahaṁ nityaṁ pūyeyety aṅghri-reṇubhiḥ  - Srimad Bhagavata 11.14.16 (Meaning : With the dust of My devotees’ lotus feet I desire to purify the material worlds, which are situated within Me. Thus, I always follow the footsteps of My pure devotees, who are free from all personal desire, rapt in thought of My pastimes, peaceful, without any feelings of enmity, and of equal disposition everywhere.)      Tirth or pilgrimage in Vedic Tradition is the journey to holy places where knowledge, devotion and association of Saints is easily accessible. But unlike normal human beings ,a Sage visits holy places just to purify the material desires of others.Jagnnath Puri is one of the Holiest sites of Vaishnavism. This temple is associated with pastimes of many great personalities.Srimanta Sankardeva Visited Purusttama khestra twice,First somewhere near 1481 AD and later in 1550 AD.Whereas,Dinanath bezbarua wrote that the Mahapu...

Bhakti Ratnakar : Chapter of the Praises

Bhakti-Ratnakar is a Guhartha Granth (Extensive devotional book),probably the only Sanskrit book of Srimanta Sankardeva ; Sankardeva summarized more than thirty two Vedic scriptures to preach the Eka-Sarana Bhakti or the Single-minded devotion to Sri Krishna .Among those texts ,some important texts are : Srimad Bhagavata,Bhagavat Gita,Pandavi Gita,Padma Puran,Naradiya Puran,Matsya puran,Vishnu Puran,Skandh Puran,Suta Samhita,Bhavartha Deepika,Santi Satak,Bhujanga prayat ,Nirsimha puran,Vishnu-dharamotara ,Yoga-sara,Vaishnavanada,Prabodh Chandrodaya. Here I'm presenting the traditional Assamese poetry trans-creation of  the same book in transliteration. Sri Ramacharan Thakur ,Third in the Disciplic succession from Sankardeva translated the book into Assamese in the late 16th century .This Particular Chapter has the glorification of Bhakatas or the pure devotees of Krsna . I'm trying to render the verses in a simple meaning.           ...

Essence of all paths : Hari Nama

People often misunderstood the relation between the holy Vedas and the Bhagavata Marg . The Vedas are divine in origin ,it is also distinct from the Vedic rites (like purification, oblation ) which is the main  topic of Karmakanda .In general Vedas (mainly the Samhita part) have the seed of all paths .The Gita too glorified the mastery of the Vedas.  Latter by Vyasa ,the One Veda is divided into different parts !The Samhitas are divine in origin, while the other parts like Aryanka,Upanisad are the realizations of  different sages .                 Srimad Bhagavata is the fruit of the Divine vedas,it's the natural commentary on the Vedas ! Bhagavata is bit different than the Pancharatra Agama .The Bhagavata is katha based Nabadha Bhakti  ,It all started with the Chartursloki teaching ,latter espoused by the nine great sons of Risava deva . Another, line was that of Piplad -Samkhayan-Parasara- Maitrayee . Latter, on the conj...
